I have the sweetest baby girl, you guys. I know that every mom thinks it about their kiddos, but seriously, she’s just so cute.
She loves her vegetables, she has a ton of hair, (and I mean a ton), and she absolutely loves music. Her first favorite movie was White Christmas. Yes, the old classic with Bing Crosby and Danny Kaye. Which, can we just pause for a moment to honor this movie? It’s no wonder she loves it, because it’s one of my all-time favorites (as it should be for everyone who has joy in their heart) . . . and no, I did not just play it on repeat until she loved it. Although . . . that probably would’ve happened eventually.
Why am I talking about White Christmas in February? Well, it leads me to our new favorite movie: Olaf’s Frozen Adventure.
I know, the shame. Watching Christmas-themed Disney short films when spring is knocking on the doorstep… but I just can’t deny the absolute joy on her face when those songs come on.
To be fair, it’s less than a half-hour, but has four full length songs. It’s basically a condensed movie – she thinks they just kept all the songs and got rid of all the dull “plot line” fluff.
Okay, but seriously why am I talking about Olaf’s Christmas adventure in February? Because I can’t get over the detail in this silly (wonderful) little movie! I am a sucker for all things Christmas, and I love me some classic nordic holiday traditions, so this movie really gets me. The decorations, the food, the traditions – I’m all over that stuff! I don’t know how many times I paused the movie – “Just a second sweet girl! Mommy wants to see what that dessert is in the background!” – but now I have a whole list of festive things to make/do/bake next winter!
You can bet that come October (yes, I know, I have a problem) you’ll start seeing the realization of this list start to come true. You know we’ll be making fruitcake, we for sure will be attempting a kransekake, probably some lefse, and while we’re at it, why not some bordstabelbakkels! Yep, those are all real things, and I’m going to be a-baking them come next winter.
I just hope the sweet girl is still on board!
